The East-Siberian Metals Corporation is one of
the world leaders in zinc, lead and beryllium reserves. Carrying
out the complex planning of its economic activities, including
geological survey work, development of ore deposits, mining and
industrial processing of ore, the East-Siberian Metals Corporation
is aware of the scale and complicacy of the ecological issues
facing it.
The management of the Corporation regards as a
task of priority importance the preservation of the ecosystem of
the lake Baikal, of the unique flora, fauna and the natural
landscapes of Buryatia and therefore considers the environment
protection activities to be an integral part of the projects to be
realized.
The Corporation intends to ensure compliance
with the requirements of the environmental laws when designing
infrastructural projects and production facilities. On putting the
industrial enterprises into operation, the Corporation will pay
close attention to preventive measures and reduction of the
negative impact on the environment. For these purposes, when
designing the mining and processing complexes, in particular, it is
planned to store the reject materials of Ozerny and Kholodninsky
GOKs outside the drainage basin of the lake Baikal.
